Jim Beckerich gave a very emotional presentation at DNP's October 13 meeting. In 1958 Jim was a member of the University of Buffalo (UB) football team that was invited to play in the Tangerine Bowl in Florida. After being invited, the sponsoring organization notified UB that the two Negro players on the team would not be allowed to play in the bowl.
Shayn Cutino of Anja Wellness gave DNP members a presentation on mind-body medicine. Shayn had everyone engrossed (see photo above) when she suggested that they close their eyes and follow along with her words which demonstrated the power of the mind. Shayn is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and pointed out many uses of hypnosis...everything from relieving stress and anxiety to losing weight and stopping smoking. Cataloging software that is easy to use makes short work of finding your favorite digital photographs. Cataloging is important and frequently the benefits are life saving. Alice told the story of a young boy who neglected to tell his mother of the poster he needed to make for school until the last minute, literally. Because his mom had cataloged all their family photographs she was able to find the photos, design the poster and get it printed in less than an hour.
